The Hawk is the national animal of Bellavista. Hawks are extremely prevalent in Bellavista particularly south of the country, near Mare Tenebris. In addition to this, the hawk is valued because it can fly high above Bellavista to see all of the beautiful scenery it has to offer. The qualities of the hawk have been brought in by culture because it is a strong and powerful thing, such as Bellavista, and it is said that once a year a large hawk will fly over the country, protecting it from all bad and evil that may have been over the country. References to hawks also appear in popular expressions, for example “keen as a hawk” means someone who is particularly intelligent and nothing can get past them.
